SAFETY AND HANDICAPS

There are two pieces of paperwork that you need to complete before you set sail in the PIC Insurance Brokers Coastal Classic. 

HANDICAPS

The Coastal is defined by Yachting NZ as a Category 3 event. This means you need to get a Cat 3 safety certificate issued by Yachting NZ. These require an insepction, cost $121 for club members and are valid for two years. 

WELCOME TO RUSSELL

The community of Russell takes great pleasure welcoming all the participants of the PIC Insurance Brokers Coastal Classic. For those arriving by land and those race contestants arriving by sea, consider staying the weekend; there is a lot to do. 

GETTING INFO

The website www.russellinfo.co.nz will provide you with a lot more information about accommodation, shops, galleries and facilities in town as well as the timetable for our festival weekend. Check it out regularly for updates.

In addition, Russell is a great place to relax for the weekend. We've outlined just a few of the things that you can do to make your weekend fun and relaxing.

Accommodation, airport transfers and intercity bus enquires can be made with Russell Information Centre by phoning 09 403 8020.

TRANSPORT

Intercity Coachlines runs a Auckland-to-Paihia and Paihia-to-Auckland service.

WATER TAXIS

Water taxis will be available to all entrants and supporters for transport between Russell Wharf and yachts moored within Russell Bay.
The service will be available from 5pm Friday until 10am Sunday unless otherwise advised. The Water Taxi Operator can be reached on VHF Channel 8.  

HOT SHOWERS

Hot showers are available at Russell TOP 10 Holiday Park on the corner of James St and Long Beach Rd. A service fee of $6.00 per person applies. Visitors must register at reception before entering the park, opening hours are 8am to 7pm.

PUBLIC PLACES LIQUOR BAN

The Far North District Council Public Places Liquor Control Bylaw 2003 prohibits the consumption or possession of liquor in all public places 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This means you may not consume or carry alcohol through Russell's public places at any time. Please respect the Russell community by complying with this ban.

RACE HEADQUARTERS

The PIC Insurance Brokers Coastal Classic Race HQ will be at the Nauti Penguin, a one minute walk from Russell Wharf just behind the Duke of Marlborough Hotel.
