It's that time again.
Crew chats are starting, skippers are thinking about "doing the Coastal again", and plans are beginning to take shape for the next PIC Coastal Classic.

The classic run north
For more than 40 years, sailors have lined up off Auckland and set a course north for Russell, taking on a race that delivers something different every time.
Some years bring fast, exhilarating reaching conditions. Others turn into tactical offshore challenges where patience and smart decisions make all the difference. But whatever the conditions, the reward never changes – that unforgettable moment of landfall in the Bay of Islands after a true coastal passage.
A race for everyone
The PIC Coastal Classic has become a rite of passage for generations of Kiwi sailors. For some, it's a fiercely contested race for line honours and division trophies. For others, it's the challenge of completing their first offshore passage, introducing new crew to offshore sailing, or simply sharing a great adventure with friends.
And remember, it's open to everyone – from serious teams chasing line honours, to cruising crews just enjoying the classic run north.
Why sailiors keep coming back
NZ Multihull Yacht Club Commodore Adrian Percival (orgainisers of the coastal) says that's part of what makes the event so special.
"The PIC Coastal Classic continues to reel sailors in because it offers something for everyone. Every year is different, and the feeling of making landfall in Russell after the run north never changes."
He also has a message for crew who might be reading this.
"Crew have more influence than they think. If you're keen to do the PIC Coastal Classic, now might be the time to start reminding the skipper. Sometimes that's all it takes."
