The Coastal comes of age!

Get ready for an epic race and labour weekend. This year marks 40 years since the coastal classic began in 1982, and with Covid causing us to cancel last year we are beyond excited to get this race underway.

You could say it’s been two years since the fleet sailed into Russell with 2020 seeing only 16 boats reach the finish line. Considering this we are expecting a large fleet of competitors who are looking to “grind” their way to the finish line.

In fact, we are aiming for 200 boats to compete to mark this 40-year milestone! With this in mind, we thought it only right that we put up a fantastic prize – the chance to win two return tickets to Barcelona – the home of the 2024 America’s Cup!

Anyone is eligible for this prize – crew, boat owners. All you have to do is enter, register your vessel and crew, compete, and attend the prizegiving, and you could be on your way to Barcelona!

The PIC Coastal Classic is more than just a race, it’s a chance to catch up with old friends, share some stories and a drink or two together. Anybody who has done the race will know the buzz and magic of sailing into Russell and celebrating through the next night at the legendary PIC Coastal Classic afterparty.

So - gather your crew, get your boat ship shape and let’s celebrate 40 years of this epic race together.
