The PIC Coastal Classic Rally is evolving in 2025, with a brand-new flexible format designed to give cruisers more ways to be part of the action - and it comes with a new partner, Charlie Bravo Boat Co., on board as sponsor.

Participants can now choose to depart Auckland on Friday morning to cruise alongside the race fleet at their own pace, finishing in Russell in time for the afterparty and prizegiving, or take a more relaxed approach with a new two-day option. The two-day rally allows boats to depart on Thursday, either from Auckland or their homeport, enjoy an overnight stop at Marsden Cove with berthage provided, and then rejoin the fleet the following morning for the final leg north.

Cameron Burch from Charlie Bravo says, “With the success of our recent partnerships and continued growth in the business, being part of the PIC Coastal Classic Rally is a fantastic way for us to connect with passionate sailors and showcase the Charlie Bravo brand. We’re excited to support this new flexible rally format, giving more people the chance to experience this iconic journey.”

Commodore Adrian Percival adds, “When we first introduced the Rally, it was about creating a way for more people to share in the PIC Coastal Classic. Over the years it has grown steadily, and with this new two-day option we’re building on that momentum. We’re especially excited to have Charlie Bravo on board as a partner, their support helps us open up this iconic sailing journey to even more participants. We still require boats to hold a Category 3 certificate to ensure safety at sea, but this flexible format allows more sailors to take part in a way that suits them, while staying true to the spirit of the event.”

With a fresh format and the backing of Charlie Bravo, the PIC Coastal Classic Rally continues to celebrate the journey, the camaraderie, and the tradition of New Zealand sailing — offering more ways than ever to join in the adventure.
