Water Taxi Access - now a $10 per person fee

Getting ashore in Russell is always part of the post-race experience, and for years the PIC Coastal Classic’s dedicated Water Taxi service has made it easy for crews to get to and from their boats.

However, with fewer local operators post-Covid and the rising costs of having to bring a boat and crew up from Auckland to run the service, it's now necessary to introduce a $10 per person fee to keep the taxis running.

The fee covers access for the entire weekend, with participants receiving a wristband that must be worn at all times while using the taxis.

Tickets must be purchased online (click here) or at the race briefing on Thursday 23 October from 5pm. Wristbands can be included in the skippers’ packs if purchased online (just make sure skippers remember to bring them) or can be purchased at registration.

Adrian Percival, Commodore of the PIC Coastal Classic, says "We’ve always wanted getting ashore to be smooth and safe. Introducing this fee isn’t something we wanted to do, but it’s necessary to keep the service reliable. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support."
