Coming ashore at Russell after a long race is something to look forward to - and we can't wait to introduce you to the new owners of our Race HQ at The Duke Tavern. After months of hard work from Lucy and Gary Best, the pub officially opened last week, so naturally, our NZMYC Committee went up to celebrate the occassion with them.
They will have some licensing restrictions in place, so we ask for your support and understanding as they are totally committed to making our after-party the best one yet and for years to come.
If you'd like to know what to expect after the finish line, here you go...
FRIDAY NIGHT The Duke Tavern will be serving food and drinks until 2am. Once you've parked up and tidied the boat, come ashore and enjoy the atmosphere! They will stay open for food after that time if there is sufficient demand.
If you are one of the early arrivals at the Wharf - please ensure you are booked in with the Russell Information Centre www.russellinfo.co.nz
The water taxi service from your boat to Russell Wharf will run continuously from the time the first boat arrives until 10am Sunday 27 October - VHF Channel 8.
Resilient Russell Charitable Trust volunteers will be on site at The Duke Tavern to ensure your shipboard waste and recycling gets into the right bins - please do not use the ones on the wharf and town as they're for general public use.
SATURDAY The Duke Tavern will be open from 10am until midnight, and will be offering wholesome, simple food done well, good crisp beer and wine in a happy atmosphere. If you're keen to venture further afield, find out what’s happening, online www.russellnz.co.nz
We encourage you to come ashore early for the evening festivities, there are limited water taxis and they get very busy at this time.
